RCA Rt2770 5.1-Channel, 1000-Watt Receiver Home Theater System Reviews

I've never been a fan of ALL-IN-ONE units. I prefer separate components than can be easily economically replaced if they fail without replacing a whole system. Many budget home theater systems today have DVD players built-in to the receiver/amp, but if the DVD player fails, the whole unit is basically useless since many of these systems have limited input/output jacks. br /Not the case with this RCA. It is a full-fledged receiver/5.1 channel amp only. It looks sounds much more expensive than it actually is. That's not to say it sounds as good as my ,000 Yamaha receiver, but for the price of a decent boombox, it absolutely can't be beat. It's extremely versatile with multiple audio input options. I bought one about 3 years ago for my daughter her husband. They've used it constantly for movie surround-sound and i-Pod listening. It hasn't let them down yet. I've been so impressed with it, that I've wanted one as a second system for the last 3 years, until I finally bought one last week. If you're an audiophile or want volume rivaling a jet engine at take-off, look elsewhere; but expect to spend much more. However, if you're an average person: this thing gets plenty loud, has decent bass, sounds pretty good looks cool enough. Plus, you can use it with any DVD/blu-ray player you desire. No buyer's remorse here.br /Additional info: My unit is the most recent model which varies slightly from some of those previously reviewed in that: 1) the subwoofer works automatically (no need to turn it off/on) 2) there are buttons on the remote to adjust bass/treble as well as buttons for pre-set EQ such as jazz, flat, rock, pop, etc. 3) two optical audio inputs as compared to one on the older unit 4) the front USB jack has been replaced with L/R RCA inputs for connecting a video game system (a total now of 7 audio inputs) 5) probably some other improvements I haven't discovered yet.

Decent Inexpensive Unit - Tedd -
I bought one of these RT2770 units to use with my PC as a temporary sound system until I upgrade the PC again. It cost very little. I think I paid about for it. You can't beat that with a stick. Using a little creativity and hooked up through SPDIF to the computer it sounds pretty good. I certainly has enough power to scare the cat out of the room.br /br /The problem I have with it is like many other products we purchase these days they are pretenders to what used to be great old American Made Quality Manufacturers. Instead you get Chinese made, lower quality junk. If you are lucky it works ok and doesn't burn your house down. br /br /Specifically, this RCA unit ain't RCA. As of this minute I can't figure out who is the manufacturer. Company A licensed the name, sold to company B then it all got sold to another company. Give me a break. br /br /Sooo, a simple fan inside the case got noisy. If I remember right it's about a 40mm fan that is basically a computer fan made by a Chinese company known as Xinrullian or something like that. I have tried to get an this OEM fan as it's electrical specs will match the original. Good luck. I will probably have to use a generic computer fan and hope it doesn't draw enough current to overload the power supply circuit in the receiver. I have the specs on the original fan and it's current draw is lower than most and hard to match.br /br /Again, ok unit for the price. Not good if you need to fix it out of warranty.
